------------HEAT   ALERT------------

Hurricane Ida did extensive damage to the front building that housed the Lobby, Kitchen, Office, Bathrooms, Doggie ICU, Doggie Nursery, the East Wing and Cat Room.

  •  The winds peeled the roof off like a sardine can.
  • Water poured in where the roof was gone, so the entire building will need to be gutted and rebuilt.
  • We lost everything in the office - computer, printer, telephone system, & supplies.
  • The computers in the commercial washer/dryer are damaged & we don't know if they can be fixed.
  • The Kitchen cabinets, storage closets, microwave and all supplies not in plastic containers could not be salvaged.
  • All towels and blankets were used in our doggie evacuation.
  • Although the front windows did not break, they leaked water and need to be fixed, too.
  • The Page Fence around the property has many sections down due to fallen trees.
  • Our food stored in the Cat Room was spared.
  • The Suite Building and new air conditioning unit were spared.
  • The cost to just fix the roof was $13500.
  • We don't have an estimate yet on what it will cost to fix the building, fencing and get rid of the fallen trees.
  • The Building Owner did not have property insurance.
    • Our rental is only $1500/month.
    • Property insurance would have cost them $24000/per year.
    • They decided not to get the insurance to keep our monthly rental as low as possible.
    • The Building Owner has applied to FEMA to see if funds can be obtained to fix the building.
    • We know that many in our Village sustained damage just like we did.  Our prayers are with you.
    • There is a "Go Fund Me Page" set up to help.  If you are out of our area, or were not impacted by IDA, we really need your financial support.
    • There are so many dogs who were left behind during evacuations that need our help.  Even though the Suite Building was not damaged, we are not able financially to help without your support.

THANKS TO YOU WE WON the Dudley DeBosier National Non-Profit Day Award of $500 & a media marketing video.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG OR CHILD IN A HOT CAR

Running into a store for "just a minute" can be

FATAL FOR YOUR CHILD OR PET LEFT IN A CAR EVEN WITH CRACKED WINDOWS!

*  We have reached 90 F, so in 10 minutesit will be 109 F in

your car, which is likely to bedeadly to a pet or child.

On Sept 1, 42 of our dogs were evacuated by Michele's Rescue to Grand Rapids, MI and to Wagging Hearts Rescue serving the Chicago, IL and WI areas.

  • The generator keeping the emergency lights and cooling in the Suite Building where our fur babies were living during the storm was killed by the roof debris.
  • We had water, but not enough to keep all our doggies cool in the unbearable heat after the storm.
  • Our sincere THANKS to Crystal Vargas of Island Breeze Animal Rescue of Jeffersonville, GA for arranging the evacuation of our dogs.
  • We are so grateful to Michele's Rescue for driving over 24 hours to reach us and evacuate of fur babies under such trying circumstances.
  • These are also NO KILL Shelters, who will be using fosters to care of our fur babies.
    1 has already been adopted.

  • All of our permanent residents remained with at our Founder's home, where there was a generator to provide proper care.  We were concerned such a long driving trip would be more harmful to them.
